October
The Board of the Saint Petersburg mathematical society awarded the Prize of the Society "To young mathematician" for 2018
to Maxim Dolgopolik for the set of the works "Constructive non-smooth analysis and its applications to calculus of variations and control theory". Congratulations!
July
July 17. The 2018 Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (ARWU-2018) was published: (link) SPbSU took 32nd place in TOP-100 of the best universities of the world in the Shanghai subject rating of 2018 (ARWU-2018) in the subject "Automation and control". None of the Russian universities have been raised so high in the world rankings yet!. Among European universities, St. Petersburg State University took the 7th place, right after the Cambridge University.
As in 2017, a half of the SPbSU publications were related to the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics. As for the publications in the 5 top journals - 2/3 of the SPbSU publications of the SPbSU were born at the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics. (link) 12 out of 35 publications in the top journals in 2012-2016, counted in the ARWU-2018 were produced with the participation of the staff of the CCS Lab.

July 3. Professor Igor Furtat became the winner of the "Youth" competition of the RSF Presidential Program of Research Projects of 2018. Name of the project: "Control of network systems under conditions of uncertainties and delays with application to the control of electricity networks".Congratulations!

June 12. Workshop on recent Advances in Adaptive, Nonlinear and Networked Control on occasion of Alexander Fradkov’s 70th birthday took place at the European control conference (ECC-2018, Limassol, Cypris): (link) The workshop opened with a lecture by the IFAC President Professor Frank Allgower.

April 23. Sad news: Gennady Alekseevich Leonov, RAS Corresponding Member, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of St. Petersburg State University, Head of the Information Processing Systems Laboratory of the IPME suddenly passed away at the age 71. Obituary (pdf)
April 9 - 13. At the city seminar "Control Theory" a series of lectures on Control of Complex Networks was delivered by Professor Eckehard Schoell from TU Berlin. Topics of the lectures: "Controlling partial synchronization patterns: Chimera states and beyond"; "Chimera states in complex networks: interplay of topology, noise, and delay"; "Coherence resonance chimeras in dynamical networks and their control by time-delayed feedback". October
From October 16 to November 9, Professor Alexander Fradkov made a scientific visit to China in the cities of Hangzhou and Shanghai. Visited Hangzhou Dianzi University и East China Normal University.
August
On August 23 the interview with the head of the CCS Laboratory Prof. Alexander Fradkov was published in the newspaper "Poisk". The conversation concerned the inclusion of the St. Petersburg State University in the top 100 of the Shanghai subject ranking, in what a considerable merit employees of the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics, SPbSU and working part-time scientists of CSS Laboratory. On July 17-19 CSS Laboratory scientists took part in the 8th International Conference on Physics and Control 2017 at Florence (link). At the opening of the conference Alexander Fradkov read the plenary report «Cybernetical Physics-2017».
On July 9-14 Toulouse (France) hosted the 20th World Congress of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC World Congress) (link) The International Federation on Automatic Control (IFAC), which in 2017 celebrates its 60th anniversary, organizes such congresses every three years. The first Congress of IFAC was held in 1960 in Moscow. In 2017, the Congress gathered a record number of participants: 3462 delegates from 68 countries. 11 reports with the participation of the scientists of CSS Laboratory were presented at the IFAC Congress-2017. IFAC awards were presented before the Congress at a special meeting. Alexander Fradkov was awarded the title of IFAC Fellow. This title is a special award, emphasizing the recognition of merits of the scientist in the field of automatic control. (link)

At the XI-th International Chetaev Conference "Analytical Mechanics, Stability and Control" (Kazan, June 13-17), A Fradkov, R Seifullaev, and I Furtat made plenary presentations.

On June 28 published a rating of the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2017 (link). It includes 12 Russian universities. St. Petersburg state University was in the top 100 of this list in the direction of “automation and control” (link). Significant progress of the University in this rating was provided by the CSS Lab members, who work part-time and at the Department of theoretical Cybernetics St. Petersburg state University.

October:
90th Anniversary of Vladimir Andreevich Yakubovich (1926-2012),
one of the founders of modern control theory, was celebrated
on October 21, 2016.
The paper 'Network science on belief system dynamics under logic constraints'
was published on Oct.21 in the high prestige journal 'Science'
The paper is coauthored by Anton Proskurnikov, the senior researcher
of CCS Lab, former student of Prof. Yakubovich.

July:
The IFAC has decided to award Prof. Alexander Fradkov with the title
"IFAC Fellow" with citation "For contributions to adaptive and nonlinear
control theory and the deterministic approximation of stochastic systems"

took place in Saint Petersburg.
Prof. A. Stephen Morse, Yale University, USA delivered the course
"Distributed control and computation" attended by 32 students
from five countries.

2015
December:
More that 50 papers were published by the CCS Lab members in 2015,
including 36 papers in the journals or proceedings indexed in
Web of Science, Scopus.
The collective monograph "Problems of network control", edited
by A.L.Fradkov was published. It is coauthored by Natalia Amelina,
Mikhail Ananyevskiy, Boris Andrievsky, Oleg Granichin, Ibragim Junussov,
Alexey Matveev, Anton Proskurnikov, Irina Pchelkina, Anton Selivanov,
Alexander Fradkov, Emilia Fridman and Igor Furtat.
It is the first book published in Russia on this subject.
The Prize of the Saint Petersburg State University
"For fundamental achievement in science" is awarded in 2015 to the set
of the works by Sergey Gusev, Alexey Matveev and Alexander Fradkov
'Control under information constraints with application to the networked,
robotic and physical-technological systems'.

June:
The 1st International Conference "Modelling, Identification and Control
of Nonlinear Systems" (MICNON 2015) took place in St. Petersburg,
Russia on June 24-26, 2015. The conference was dedicated to the memory
of Vladimir Andreevich Yakubovich (1926-2012), one of the founders
of modern control theory, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences
honorary professor of St. Petersburg State University.
The Conference was the first of a new series of international
conferences in the field of systems theory and automatic control,
organized by the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC).
It was attended by about 250 experts from 38 countries, including more
than 120 foreign scientists and some "stars" of control field:
Rudolf Kalman (ETH Zurich), Karl Astrom (Lund, Sweden),
Roger Brockett (Harvard, USA), David Hill (Hong Kong - Sydney)
and others. Former IFAC President Alberto Isidori (Rome, Italy),
the future president of IFAC Frank Allgower (Stuttgart, Germany),
General IFAC Secretary Kurt Schlaher (Linz, Austria).
A number of the talks were devoted to the works of V.A. Yakubovich
and his research school, including the plenary talk of Alexander Fradkov
entitled "Legacy of Vladimir Yakubovich".
April:
On April 20-24 the lectures of the
EECI International Graduate School on Control 2015 (EECI-IGSC-2015))
took place in Saint Petersburg.
Prof. Vladimir Kharitonov from SPbSU delivered a course:
Time-delay systems: Lyapunov functional and matrices.
Part-time researcher of CCS Lab, 3rd year student of SPbSU Denis Nikitin
has won two gold medals at the International Robotic Contest
RobotChallenge-2015 in Wien, Austria. 640 robots from 40 countries
were competing in 17 nominations. Denis' robots have won the race
of quadrotors and contest on objects' assembly.
February:
The 16th Saint-Petersburg Olympiad on Cybernetics was organized by ITMO University
jointly with SPbSU and CCS Lab (Mikhail Ananyevskiy and Alexander Fradkov
are members of the Organizing Committee).

October:
In October we selebrated the 85th birthday of Prof. Vladimir Andreevich Yakubovich and 80th birthday
of prof. Arkady Khaimovich Gelig.
On Oct.31 a special session of the St.Petersburg seminar on Control Theory dedicated to those events took place.
The 2nd Electronic Edition of Yakubovich's complete collection of the works was published on CD-ROM.
The CD-ROM contains more than 300 full text publications including 8 books, 188 journal papers,
more than 100 papers published in or translated to English.
Extra 10 journal papers was published by V.A.Yakubovich after release of the 1st Edition in 2006.
Additionally, a collection of about 40 papers selected by V.A.Yakubovich himself is in preparation.
New members have joined our Lab Dr.Sc Phys&Math Oleg Granichin, Ph.D. Alexey Osadchii,
Cand.Sc., Engineering Igor Furtat.
September:
On Sept.19-20 the 6th Swedish-Russian Control Conference (SweRuCon2011) was held in NRU ITMO
(8, Birjevaja linia). There were 13 attendees from Sweden and 17 from Russia.

On Sept.21-23 the 14th International (Baltic) student Olympiad on Automatic Control (BOAC 2011)
took place in in NRU ITMO (8, Birjevaja linia). The BOAC 2014 program included 33 talks of
students and young researchwrs from 14 universities of Russia, Belorussia, Sweden, Ukraine.
Two distinguished lecturers gave the lectures for BOAC participants:
Member of Russian Academy of Sciences Prof. Alexander Kurzhanski (Moscow State Univ) and
Member of Swedish Academy of Engineering Prof. Anders Lindquist (Royal Inst. Technology, Stokholm).
Both lectures were based on the materials of authors' plenary talks at the IFAC World Congress
that took place in Milano just a month ago.
The BOAC winners were awarded with diploms and books.
Absolute winner of the Olympiad was Igor Furtat who was affiliated with
Astrakhan State Technical Unifersity (later he joined our Lab). Congratulations!
The 5th International Conference on Physics and Control (Physcon 2011) was held in Leon, Spain, on
September 5-8, 2011. 203 participants from 31 different countries
attended the conference organized by University of Leon and IPACS.
About 50 participants from Russia attended Physcon 2011. Details see at:

was held in Catania, Italy on September 1-4, 2009. About 200 participants from more than 30 different countries

2010
July:
The CCS Lab celebrated its 20th bnirthday in June, 2010.
During first 10 years (1990-2000) the members of the Lab have published 8 books, 4 textbooks,
68 journal and 185 conference papers, have made about 60 scientific visits abroad.
Five international conferences are organized, three Cand.Sci. theses are defended.
Nine volumes of collected papers are published under our edition.
During next 10 years (2001-2010) the members of the Lab have published 17 books, 3 textbooks, 9 edited volumes,
210 journal and 180 conference papers. Eight international conferences are organized
in Saint Petersburg and four conferences are organized outside of Russia, dosens of research visits abroad are made.
Two Dr.Sci. theses and three Cand.Sci. theses are defended.
Six volumes of collected papers, five conference proceedings and three special issues of international
journals are edited and published.
We maintain fruitful scientific and personal links with leading researchers and educators worldwide.
Particularly we keep links with the former CCS Lab members and it is very important for the Lab.
We run joint projects and we proudly publish joint papers with our former members.
Ibragim Junussov has defended his Cand. of Sciences Thesis in Math&Mech Faculty of SPbSU on June 16, 2010.
