Russian Academy of Sciences
XXIV Summer School
Nonlinear Oscillations - 96
St.Petersburg
July 1 -- July 10, 1996
First Announcement and
Call for Papers
The Summer school will be organized by Institute of
the Problems of Mechanical Engineering,Russian Academy of Sciences.
"Nonlinear oscillations - 96" (Applied Mathematics and Mechanics)
is the twenty-four
in a series of
annual summer schools on application of mathematics to nonlinear
oscillations problems.
The school is supported by EMS.
The purpose of the school is to attract
the attention of
researchers (especially young) to recent results in application of
mathematics to nonlinear oscillations problems.
The lectures will be given by well known
scientists. Each
young researcher will give a special certificate at the end of the
school.
Summer school is a meeting with a limited number of
participants (not more than 60).
Scientific programme
The scientific programme focuses on seven main topics:
- Solid mechanics (nonlinear oscillations,chaos, stability and
control, multibody systems and
kinematics);
- Fluid and gas mechanics including turbulence;
- Mechanical engineering;
- Computational mechanics;
- Numerical analysis (finite elements, boundary elements and
wavelets);
- Wave motion and acoustics;
- Elasticity, damage and fracture.
Each topic is assigned a special session consisting of two
invited lectures and three contributed lectures.The working
languages for the shcool
are English and Russian.
