Degradation of Ni based alloys as steam generator tubing material starts from a modification of thin surface oxide by lead. This work focuses on analyzing the surface oxide for Ni based alloys in 0.1M NaOH solution at 315° C using potentiodynamic curve, TEM and TEM-EDS. It was found that the Cr rich oxide played an important role in SCC resistance. Pb was effectively examined in the oxide at the tight crack tip as well as free surface oxide. |
