Residual stresses play an important role in the performance of machined components and structures, namely, in the following aspects fatigue life, corrosion resistance and part distortion. This article will give a brief review on residual stresses during machining of materials with special emphasis in stainless steel. The case study presented in the current work reported on residual stresses in machining of stainless steel AISI 316 using FEM analysis. |
