Denis V. EFIMOV

Denis EFIMOV was born in Saint-Petersburg, August 08, 1975. He received Electrical Engineering Degree from Saint-Petersburg State Electrical Engineering University in 1998 and Ph.D. degree in Automatic Control in 2001. His thesis was devoted to adaptive neural net control systems. In 2006 he received Doctor of Science Degree in Automatic Control from Institute for Problems of Mechanical Engineering (RAS). His second thesis dealt with robust and adaptive control systems of nonlinear oscillations.

Since 2000 he is senior researcher of the Institute of Problems of Mechanical Engineering of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Laboratory of Control of Complex Systems. He was the winner in scientific conference for young scientists "Navigation and Control of Motion" in section "Theory and Control Systems", Main Scientific Research Institute "Electropribor", Saint-Petersburg in 2000 and 2001; the winner of Educational session in the Baltic Olympiad of Automation Control (BOAC), Saint-Petersburg, 1996. He won grants of Russian Federation of Basic Research in 2003, 2004 and 2006; grant of Russian Science Support Foundation in 2004 and 2005. He won personal grunts from Saint-Petersburg government, The Ministry of Common and Professional Education, Russian Academy of Science within the federal target framework of the young scientists support in 2000 and 2001; personal grant from rector of Saint-Petersburg State Electrical Engineering University in 1999 and 2000; group grants from the Ministry of Common and Professional Education and Saint-Petersburg State Electrical Engineering University in 1996 up to 1999.

He participates in Russian and Nederland relationship program RFBR-NWO project 047.011.2004.004 in 2006. Since 2002 till 2007 he is within the team working under scientific agreements between St.-Petersburg State Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics (Technical University) and General Motors. In 2007 he worked on probation in SUPELEC, France.

His research interests are in the field of hybrid systems, nonlinear control, adaptive control and control of oscillations, adaptive synchronization. He published 5 books, over 70 papers and one manual for MS. graduate students.
