Dmitry Tomchin was born in 1975 in Saint Petersburg.

He left the 30th Physics & Mathematics School of Saint Petersburg.

He has Master degree in Electrical Engineering (2000, Diploma project title "Design of the Object-Oriented Modeling Complex for Pump Unit Control System by Means of Information Technologies") from the St. Petersburg State Electrical Engineering University (Robotics and Manufacturing System Automation Dept.).

Since 1997 he is the researcher in the CCS Lab. of IPME RAS
Since 2000 he is the Ph.D. student of IPME RAS (field of research: Information and Control Systems for Mechanical Engineering).
In 2002 awarded with grant at the St.Petersburg Contest of young scientists.

Field of scienfic interests: mechatronics, JAVA-technologies.
Hobbies: tourism, bridge (club master, referee).

D. Tomchin participated in the following conference organizing committees:
