Pavel Andreevich Zhilin is my Teacher who has inspired me to work in science and has appreciably affected my worldview, but that is not all. I am very much obliged to Prof. Zhilin. Only I can estimate the importance of his influence on me. I am grateful for the chance to know such a wonderful person and an outstanding scientist. He has become the embodiment of spirituality for me.

Edition of the works of P. A. Zhilin is ongoing since 2006 in collaboration with H. Altenbach, E.N. Vilchevskaya, S.N. Gavrilov, E.F. Grekova, V.I. Erofeev, D.A. Indeitsev, A.M. Krivtsov.

Research Interests

My main research interests are development, popularization and spreading to new fields of knowledge of two following scientific directions:

• Cosserat continua with microstructure as models of media with non-mechanical properties
• Non-classical particles and continua consisting of these particles

The research interests listed below are closely related to the main research directions. They belong either to the fields of science, in which one can use the ideas and models relating to the Cosserat continua and non-classical particles, or to the fields of science, where the mathematical methods are applicable for describing the dynamics of non-classical particles and Cosserat continua are developed.

• Thermodynamics, coupled problems of thermoelasticity and thermoviscoelasticity
• Electrodynamics, piezoelectricity and ferromagnetism
• Inelasticity, phase transitions and structural transformations
• Continua with microstructure and multicomponent continua
• Mechanics of thin-wall constructions (rods, plates and shells)
• Rigid body dynamics and dynamics of discrete-continuum systems with rotational degrees of freedom

Areas of Research

The areas of research which are actively developed:

• Alternative models of thermal conductivity and internal damping
• Phase transitions (in collaboration with H. Altenbach, E.N. Vilchevskaya).
• Experimental methods of determination of mechanical characteristics of micro- and nanoobjects (in collaboration with V.A. Eremeyev, D.A. Indeitsev, N.F. Morozov).
• Piezoelectrics (in collaboration with Ya.E. Kolpakov).

The research areas which were developed earlier, but have been put on hold for a number of reasons, are listed bellow. Interest in these research areas persists and the possibility of their further development is not excluded.

• Mechanical properties of crystal lattices and nanocrystals (in collaboration with A.M. Krivtsov, N.F. Morozov).
• Dynamics of molecular systems (in collaboration with A.M. Krivtsov).
• Development of theoretical foundations of particle and molecular dynamics
• Dynamics of ultracentrifuges
