Research
The Laboratory of Friction and Wear at the IPME is involved in a wide variety of tribological research. The Laboratory conducts experimental and theoretical studies on advanced tribological systems investigating the friction and wear for a wide range of materials.
The present research activities focuses on the following areas:
- Fracture Mechanics of Thin Surface Layers in the Wear Process
- Acoustic Emission Accompanying Surface Contact Interaction
- Wear Particle Analysis
- Periodic Phenomena in the Wear Process
- Multiple Contact Mechanics
- Implication of Friction and Wear on Dynamic Mechanisms
- Life Prediction Theory for Bearing Components
- Mathematical Modelling of Complex Tribological Systems
