The Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) recognized the dissertation of an employee of IPMash RAS as one of the best dissertation works of 2022

The dissertation of K.P Frolova, Cand. Sc. Physics and Mathematics, the senior researcher of the Applied Research Laboratory, titled as Analysis of the Influence of the Microstructure of a Deformable Body on the Characteristics of Mass Transfer, is devoted to the development of methods of continuum mechanics, which take into account the influence of microstructure on the characteristics of mass transfer in a deformable body. Microstructure accounting is implemented from the standpoint of micromechanics and micropolar theory. The use of different approaches has made it possible to describe a number of little-studied effects arising from the diffusion of impurities in heterogeneous materials. In particular, on the basis of the homogenization methods generalized in the work, the influence of segregation (which is understood as the accumulation of impurities at the phase boundary or inside discontinuities) on the effective diffusion permeability of a material with a complex internal structure has been analyzed. In addition, new models have been developed to describe a local increase in the concentration of harmful impurities in inhomogeneous solids operated in aggressive environments, which can lead to degradation of the mechanical properties of the material and loss of the bearing capacity of metal structures. A new method is proposed for describing the surface effect, which has been discovered by the staff of IPMash RAS experimentally, in hydrogen-saturated steel products, when almost the entire impurity accumulates in a thin layer of the order of the characteristic grain size.

We congratulate Kseniya Petrovna Frolova and wish her further fruitful scientific activity!
