One of the key problems of the phase synchronization control theory was solved
In order to regulate frequencies of signals in devices, such as navigation systems, communication facilities and others, the methods of their phase readjustment are used when, due to feedback, the periodic signal changes to synchronous mode «dictated» by the reference signal. To provide stable operation of a system in case of failures or deviations, you need to adjust its frequency quickly, just in one clock cycle, but until now there was no rigorous mathematical description of how this can be done. The problem named after Floyd M. Gardner, the engineer who formulated it, was solved by the international scientific team under the leadership of Nikolay Kuznetsov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Leading Scientific School of the Russian Federation in the field of mathematics and mechanics, Head of the Laboratory of Information and Control Systems of IPMash RAS, Head of the Department of Applied Cybernetics of St. Petersburg State University.
The results of the study will allow for development of fully analytical and rigorous computer approaches in control of strategically important objects, without dependence on imported chips for phase readjustment.
