The low corrosion and wear resistance of magnesium limit its industrial applications despite its very high strength to weight ratio and environment-friendly nature. Researchers are working on the development of high wear-resistant magnesium matrix composites. Different types of reinforcements (i.e., , SiC, carbon nanotubes, graphite, Ti, etc.) are added to the magnesium matrix to enhance wear resistance. Still, metallic reinforcement titanium is most suitable because the addition of Ti increases wear resistance without compromising mechanical strength and ductility. The effect of volume fraction of Ti reinforcement on the wear resistance of AZ91/Ti composites fabricated by powder metallurgy is investigated in the present work. It was observed that the wear rate and coefficient of friction decreased with the addition of Ti in the Mg matrix, and the lowest value of the wear rate and coefficient of friction was observed for Mg/Ti composite reinforced with 6 vol.% Ti.
