In Closing Ceremony of the 22nd IFAC World Congress on Automatic Control in Yokohama (Japan), awards were presented for outstanding articles published in 2020-2022 in IFAC journals. The award for the best publication in the journal Annual Reviews in Control was given to the joint work of A. Annaswamy (MIT, USA) and A. Fradkov (IPMash RAS):

The article presents the historical perspective of the field of adaptive control over the past seven decades and demonstrates the active interaction of studies on adaptive and learning systems. The chronology of the key events over this long period of time, the formulations of the problems on which the researchers focused and the key solutions are presented. The main results related to the stability and reliability of adaptive systems and learning of unknown parameters are presented.

A brief description of various applications of adaptive control, which have been reported over this period, is given. The list of references includes more than 300 publications.
